Bent tractor bumper mount

I was moving a ramp with my tractor when the chain slipped. The ramp fell and bent the top of the bumper, keeping me from opening the hood. I pulled it back with my Moline 602, but the bumper mount looks bent on both sides, so could someone check theirs, should the mount be straight or have a curve? I am thinking about removing it, straightening it, and adding a reinforcement plate

I ended up with a bent bumper mount on my tractor after an accident. I decided to take it off, carefully straighten it out, and then added a steel plate for extra support. It really made a huge difference, now it feels solid, and the hood opens without any hassle. It's a good idea to see if your mounts are supposed to be straight or have a slight curve by comparing them to a stock one. Adding some reinforcement is definitely a wise choice for durability in the long run

@Batang When you pull it off, inspect for hairline cracks. Even if it looks straight after pulling, the metal could be fatigued. A reinforcement plate will help, but check the original material thoroughly first

Honestly, I wouldn't bother too much with it, it's a bumper on a tractor. Give it a few whacks with a hammer to straighten things out and put it on. It's not like you shouldn't add some reinforcements, but unless there's some extensive damage on the metal parts I don't think you'll need to.

I'll go ahead and pull the mounts off, check their shape, and add reinforcement like you did. I hope it straightens things out and prevents future flex

I hadn't thought about metal fatigue or hidden cracks, I'll inspect closely once it's off and won't skip checking for stress signs before adding reinforcement

Fair enough, I might be overthinking it. I'll still check for cracks just in case, but I'll probably go with the hammer-and-reinforce approach unless I find real damage
