Got a MF 1526 and wondering if anyone here tried to change the front axle fluid on their own. That large plastic cap is annoying me since it won't budge, I'm worried about wrecking it. I would appreciate any tips or techniques you can share

I had luck removing a plastic cap on a front axle with a large strap wrench, the kind with a rubber strap to get a good drip without damaging it! I heard from somewhere that a little bit of heat from a heat gun should also do the trick but that wouldn't be my first option. I'd be afraid to melt the cap!

For me, I used a strap wrench and gave it a few light taps around the edge with a rubber mallet to break it loose. But please whatever you do, don't force it with pliers.

Simple tip: wrap a rag around the cap and use a strap wrench with steady pressure. Don't jerk it!!! If it still won't move, just a little heat and patience can go a long way. Never ever use force on it.

No direct experience with the 1526 specifically but I'd also use a strap wrench for more leverage and an even grip and maybe a little penetrating oil around the seam if it looks like it's been on there a while!
