Tire pressure tips for heavy yard work

I recently upgraded the tires on my compact tractor. I moved from the original turf tires to some tough 6-ply R-14s on the front wheels, and I'm planning to switch out the rear tires for the same size in the next few weeks. Since I do a ton of heavy hauling and ground prep with my tractor, I'm curious, should I inflate the tires to a higher pressure than what's indicated on the sidewall to support the extra load? I'm putting it to work tomorrow and want to make sure everything's good to go. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated

Hey! Good move on the R-14s, those are way better for heavy work than turf tires! For heavy hauling, you'll likely be running at the higher end of the tractor's recommended range, which often means close to the tire's max sidewall pressure anyway. It'll give you better stability and wear

Going higher than the sidewall max can risk uneven wear or damage. For heavier work, check your manual for any load-based adjustments. I run mine near max when hauling, and it's held up well

Running tires above the sidewall rating is asking for trouble, people do it but it's a shortcut that risks blowouts and premature wear. If the load's too much, you've likely got the wrong tire size.

It's usually best to stick close to the sidewall's max pressure, but for heavy loads, bumping it up slightly within that limit can help, don't overdo it though cos too much pressure can reduce traction and cause a rough ride, check tire temps after work to make sure they're not overheating
