Has it ever happened to you that the engine shuts as soon as I leave the seat?? I got a Massey Ferguson 1840M by the way. I know I could bypass the seat switch, but I feel like it shouldn't be necessary. Is this normal for this model, or is something off with the safety system? Thanks

Your tractor's seat safety switch is doing its job, most tractors have them, including your 1840M. Just see if the switch under the seat is adjusted right, or if the seat cushion is too worn to make good contact. Try adjusting the seat or cleaning the switch, that usually works

That's not unusual for tractors, many models, including Masseys, have a seat safety switch that kills the engine if it senses no one is seated, especially if the parking brake isn't on. It's meant to prevent accidents

The seat switch is part of the safety system, engine will shut if it senses no operator present. Bypassing it is possible, but you'd be defeating a key safety feature.
