Need help with steering cylinder

I have a Massey GC2310 and removed nut on the tie rod, but now what's been happening is that I can't really get the nut off. There's just no way since the bolt is just spinning around like crazy. I think the tapered shaft in the tie rod is spinning with the nut LOL. Usually this shaft locks into place but it's loose now. So what's an easy fix for this?

It's just a taper fit, no lock. Press it back in tight and hit it with an impact to spin the nut. If you don't need to save the tie rod, grab a pickle fork,makes life easier

I completely agree! Pushing the taper back and using an impact wrench usually gets the job done. Plus, a pickle fork can really save the day if you're fine with swapping out the tie rod.

Where exactly is the tie rod nut spinning, is it the threaded part on the outside or the tapered shaft inside that's moving? Pinpointing that can help figure out how to lock it down.

Happened to me once on my old Kubota. I jacked the arm up a bit to press the taper back into the spindle, then zipped it off with an impact. If you don't have one, a pry bar under the joint can help hold pressure while you wrench.

yeah, I agree. it's all about that taper fit. When the stud spins, it just means the taper isn't getting enough friction to hold. You gotta get it seated back in there tight
